LaserCard Spotlights Multi-Technology ID Cards at Smart Card Alliance 2010 Annual Conference
Showcasing Integration of Smart Card Technologies and Optical Security Media for Highly Secure and Functional ID Solutions
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – May 17, 2010 – LaserCard Corporation (NASDAQ:LCRD), a leading provider of secure ID solutions, will highlight its multi-technology smart card solutions at the Smart Card Alliance 2010 Annual Conference to be held May 17-20, 2010 in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Company will showcase the innovative integration of its highly counterfeit-resistant optical security media with other mainstream smart card technologies on a single ID card, addressing the needs of government ID programs around the world.
Interest in multi-technology ID cards is increasing among governments worldwide as they seek to combine multi-functionality with high security, durability, and ease of authentication in applications ranging from Patient ID to e-government to border crossing.
The Company’s ground breaking multi-technology program for the new U.S. Green Card and the Carabinieri (Italian Police Force) are models of the effective layering of ID technologies in the highest security applications. Earlier this week, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security began issuing the new Green Cards, which feature advanced optical security media, and for the first time, RFID tags for compliance with the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.
“LaserCard’s multi-layered approach presents substantial hurdles for counterfeiters to overcome. The Italian Carabinieri and the new U.S. Green Card illustrate the benefits of combining optical security media with other standards-based technologies supplied by our partners to create a leading edge, secure credential,” said Bob DeVincenzi, president and CEO of LaserCard.
